Gratitude Journal
We are excited to welcome you to join in a new initiative we’ve begun this week that will last for the next seven days called “The Gratitude Journal.” Basically the challenge is to journal for 20 minutes each day for the next week about gratitude. We’ve decided to make this a “community” adventure, so anyone who wants to be part of it is free to post or just read others people’s entries here. Click the button that says “MORE” below this sentence to get started!
You can participate in the Gratitude Journal in a couple of ways:
1) You can post your entire journal entry. Just copy it from your computer into the reply box below, fill out your name and email address, and hit the REPLY button. Please remember that anyone and everyone on the internet will be able to view this.
2) You can post a “synopsis” of your journal entry. If you’d rather not show your entire entry, just write a short paragraph highlighting what God is showing you.
3) You can read and comment on other people’s entries. This is easily done by clicking the word “Reply” that is found directly under their post.
Have fun!

I am thankful for the beautiful sunshine today, and having a family Christmas with my side of the family. It is always a challenge to get tigether at Christmas, so we traditionally get together after the new year. I’m thankful that my father could make it, even though he is deteriorating physically and mentally. And I’m thankful my son had the emotional energy to stop by as well. My family can be challenging to be around with their various addictions, and my son is trying to live life clean these days. So overall, it was a great day, only by Gods Grace, can we grow through life’s trials!
thankful for humility, and the grace with which He showed me this morning humility is a gift. it allows us to truly love, sincerely seek, and turn to our Father with no regard for appearances sake, so assured of His love that we have every confidence He is there. what a blessing we can have in remaining , or becoming, humble.
I am thankful that God sent His son to bring Grace and Peace into my life. And that he provided his word and the HOly spirit for direction.
I am so thankful for the transformation in my son these past 4 months. God has shown me that Recovery is a process, and he is in it!!!
Thank you Lord
So I have kept a journal all my life and have found it extremely therapeutic. I was so exited when Bruce presented the challenge on Sunday because I had a brand new journal ready for the new year. My journaling style has changed a whole lot since I was in high school, and in 1993, I decided to learn more about prayer and began prayer journal. So using the letters ACTS ( adoration, confession, thanksgiving, supplication) I journaled my way through many life changes. As prayers were answered I would look back and put stars next to the answered ones. Whenever I was wondering where God was, I would review my journal, and would find him fresh and new in my life.
So I can vouch for the thankfulness challenge of journaling 20 mins a day.

Spent time this morning focused on thanking Him for Latshaw West: Jason, Darby, Ollie and Lyric. What’s spiritually refreshing about this is thanking God while praying for someone inherently shifts focus from the “concerns” you’re praying for to the aspects of God’s goodness regarding the “prayer target.” And in thanking God for those positive things, I find myself proclaiming them in faith, which will of course spiritually reinforce and “increase” them. Mood elevation: yeah, I think so. Not as high as kite yet, but feeling good in the Lord, and I’m sure thanking Him for some concentrated time each day is part of it!
Did a gratitude meditation last night and this morning. Thanked the Lord for specific abilities just to be alive plus thanked Him a lot for His existence in my life, the adventure of His fresh (leadings), and the sense that we’re on the right track with Him. I was particularly thankful when I learned that Lynn had taken the challenge this morning and thanked the Lord, with prayer, for various areas of prayer concern in her life. And she found that linking thankfulness with her prayers really changed the spiritual atmosphere and the way she felt about praying. That was a true blessing I thanked God for!
Did my gratitude journal last night and today at lunch, in my car. I thanked Him for opening my eyes at an early age, and giving me understanding and a firm foundation, for my Christian walk. I thanked for His Grace and unmerited favor. I espically thanked Him for His love, that is so unconditional. Here, of late, He has been showig me how I have put limits and condition on His love, I thank Him that He is revealing more of His love to me. .
So this morning I woke up and honestly was in a pretty discouraged mood: ankle throbbed, hadn’t slept well, tired of being dependent on others to get things done. I could think of a whole list of reasons to be grumpy. Then I decided to do the Gratitude Journal for the first time—and that had obstacles: first, I don’t like to write with paper and pen and my computer was dead and its charger was over at the big Barn—and, of course, I couldn’t get it on my own! So, now even more grumpy, I decided to just go for it and use the mighty pen. So I did, thinking “this is not going to work.” Well, within just a few minutes I found myself getting happier and happier as I thanked God for His blessings in my life. In spite of myself, I found myself becoming thankful! And definitely experienced a “mood elevation!”
grateful for a church who sincerely try to nurture communty
