Bruce Latshaw

Bruce
Bruce Latshaw, with his wife Lynn, planted VCF in 1978 when the church was called Newark Christian Fellowship. Saved from a counter-cultural lifestyle during the Jesus Movement of the early seventies, Bruce led the Jesus People in Wilmington, DE, for two years. With his young family he then moved to Newark to establish the beginning of this church in his apartment while attending the University of Delaware graduate program in English. After a stint of teaching high school for five years while growing his young church in Newark, Bruce was ordained by his home church in Wilmington and entered fulltime ministry in 1978. He married Lynn in 1972 and has five children and a bunch of grandkids.

In the nineties Bruce provided catalytic oversight for East Coast Aflame, a youth revival ministry birthed from VCF. He is a co-author with Lynn of the book “Youth Can Minister,” a guide for church leaders to mentor and release on-fire youth into ministry. He is also the founder of the Healing Rooms ministries in Southern Chester County and in Wilmington DE and presents the seminar series, The Healing Secrets of John G. Lake, to churches and groups desiring training in the healing ministry.  Bruce serves as the primary vision-caster in the church. His passion is to teach, equip, and release Christians into all aspects of ministry.

Lynn Latshaw

Lynn
Lynn graduated with a BA in English from the University of Delaware, went on to get a Master’s degree in guidance counseling and agency counseling and recently graduated from VLI.  Lynn is married to Bruce and has five children – four are married to wonderful people, and she has 8 beautiful grandchildren (would you like to see my photos?).  Family is really important to her.  Lynn loves studying the Word and her dream, if she knew Greek or Hebrew, would be to translate the Bible someday.

Lynn has a passion for God’s people making God’s name famous on the earth.  She is very happy to work with Freedom Outreach in the city of Wilmington.  Lynn also helps to coordinate the Global Outreach missions team.  Lynn wants the community of believers to be passionate about their local area and their world and to influence these areas for Christ through their words and acts of kindness.

Lynn really enjoys counseling within the church, especially in the areas of using gifts within the church, career counseling, and pre-marital counseling.  Lynn also has enthusiasm for Christians, both men and women, to grow spiritually, know the Lord intimately, and fully develop their gifts and character so they can do the work that God has designed for them to do.

Jonathan Latshaw

Jonathan
Jonathan graduated from Wilmington Christian High School, has studied at North Central University, King’s College, and is a graduate of the Vineyard Leadership Institute.  Ever since he can remember, he has always had a passion to be working in ministry.  In high school, Jonathan became co-leader of East Coast Aflame, a traveling youth ministry that hosted gatherings of youth ranging from 50-1000 teens.  After 5 years of traveling ministry, Jonathan came on staff full-time in 1999.  Jonathan is married to Rebekah and has four beautiful children:  Charis, Selah, Cosette, and Judah (ask him if you want to know how to say their names).

Right now he is passionate about seeing creative arts have a greater impact on the church and the community through drama, music, video, and even dance!  He is also totally thrilled to be working in children’s ministry and realizes how close this ministry is to Jesus’ heart.  Finally, his great passion is to be part of revival on the east coast — to be part of a third great awakening in the US.

Christian Dunn

Christian Dunn
Christian and his wife Mandy live in Elkton, MD with their three children: Samuel, Elliot, and Mathea.  He graduated from the University of Delaware in 1999 with a degree in Human Development and Family Processes.  Since then he has been on full-time staff with VCF.  Christian began ministering in high school and college when he co-founded and co-led a traveling youth ministry called East Coast Aflame that held many conferences and training schools to raise up “on-fire” youth ready to make a difference with their faith.

Today Christian is excited about being the youth pastor of the church, and working with the many parent and young adult volunteers in the church to touch as many teens’ lives as possible.  His passion is to see young people fully part of the church (not an afterthought) , growing in their faith, and boldly using their gifts.  He is also excited about seeing VCF grow to make an impact on the people in our community, both inside and outside of the church.  He is passionate about Christians not just enjoying the benefits of salvation for themselves, but also being proactive in reaching out to the community around them with the love and power of Christ.

Michele Poplo

Michele lives in Newark with her husband Vince and daughter Lara.  She graduated from St. Leo University with a BA in Psychology.  Michele has been with the church for 10 years, filling various volunteer roles, and has been our bookkeeper for 6 years.  Michele has her hand in many aspects of our church life.  She has a heart to see the youth use the awesome gifts God has imparted to them, she strives to make visitors feel welcome, and she desires to help VCF develop into a strong organizational and administrative body.
