The house was packed and ready for some good old rockin' worship music. We got what we hoped for, and more! Not only was the worship passionate and lively, but the crowd got more than we expected. Jeremy Riddle challenged the crowd to really care about the poor and reflect God's heart to the world. It was a simple yet inspiring word. The night ended with an incredible praise song "Mighty God" which left the crowd hungry for more of God.

Why do some people get healed and others do not? Why, if God has called us to lives of love and purity, do we still mess it up so often? Are we hopeless? The message of the mystery of the Kingdom of God is powerful message of hope for how we must live in the tension of God's power being present in an age devoid of his total control. You will learn how to be part of what God is doing in this earth on a more regular basis!
The Kingdom of God is bigger than any one description, more powerful than words can capture. To begin our series on the Kingdom of God, Christian attempts to paint a picture of the grand vision of the "coming Kingdom" that Jesus would have been referring to when he first uttered the words, "The Kingdom of God is at hand." This grand vision has implications for all believers in how we view ourselves and our faith.
Everyone experiences failure. How we respond to failure says much about who we are. In this teaching, Lynn Latshaw presents the world's definition of success and failure in contrast with the Bible's. Using the examples of Jeremiah and Jesus, Lynn talks about handling the frustration of unmet goals and unreconciled relationships. She encourages Christians to go through these challenges in ways that produce growth in character and success in standing firm in the Kingdom here on earth. This teaching is an excellent encouragement for those dealing with failure.
In this teaching Bruce shares Paul's teaching on the Lord's Supper in 1 Corinthians 11. He brings understanding as to what it means to receive the Supper as a means of "remembering" Jesus and "proclaiming" His death. He also interprets the meaning of Paul's warning not to take the Supper in an "unworthy" way because of failing to "discern the body." He ends by practically applying these biblical truths to the church's weekly sharing of the Lord's Supper.
How would you have responded if you would have been one of the first to encounter baby Jesus? How do we respond today? Christian recounts some lessons we can learn for today from those who first encountered Jesus over 2000 years ago.
We've just completed our 8th annual Joy To The World Alternative Christmas catalog project, which provides an opportunity for people to choose birthday presents for Jesus on behalf of friends and loved ones. Instead of buying Uncle Elmer another ugly but forgettable tie, they can send a pair of piglets, a Bible, a bag of groceries, or a pair of shoes to someone in need in Africa, Asia, Ukraine, or even locally--to "one of the least of these" that Jesus has chosen to identify with on the earth. This year, a total of $9,146.00 is being sent to 17 different agencies and individual missionaries that we personally know and trust. This is the highest amount ever collected for this project! The Giving Tree was able to purchase gifts for just over 200 children and teens in the city of Wilmington. For some of them it was all they recieved for Christmas. In the days surrounding the holiday we visted over 30 homes and gave them plates of cookies to remind them that Jesus really does care about their lives and we do too.
Freedom Outreach is grateful for the generosity that you have shown over this Christmas season. Through your prayers, time, baking, and financial support we as the body were able to impact hundereds of people's lives in a way that they will remember.
At the Freedom Outreach Christmas party we were able to bring 38 children to the Barn and they had a wonderful time. We all ate lunch, played games, made a Christmas tree ornament, decorated and ate amazing cookies, opened our presents, and heard about the real meaning for Christmas. The children loved being able to spend time with so many people who love and care for them. Thanks to all those who helped make this possible by volunteering your time and energy!
